How It All Began
17 years ago Tony and I went a fundraiser for and AIDS rider. I was so motivated by the presentation I thought, I am going to do that. Then they showed the video with everyone going up Quadbuster and reality grabbed hold of me. No, I'm not going to do that. Driving home I mentioned these thoughts to Tony. His response was it would never had occurred to him to do this.

The next morning, he took my old bicycle that I had from when I was in college out of the basement, drove to the beach rode it and got a flat an had to walk it back. On that same morning I signed up for an acting class.
Funny how a random night could change lives.

Now Tony has done 16 rides. People ask me if I will ever ride. My response, we have a motto in our family.....

"Tony does the ride, I do the riders."

So Then What?

I decided to surprise Tony one year by driving up from LA early in the morning to some place north of Lompoc, find the route and be on the side of the road. I had no plan. I stood by a park and started bowing to every rider who went by than ran backwards saying something like, "Take me with you." As the day rolled on their was no Tony. I later found out he wasn't feeling well. And I thought great, he is not going to come by. Eventually he did ride by. He told me as he approached he saw this man in the in the distance and was afraid it was some crazy nut, he turned out to be spot on.

By the end of the day from bowing 2500 times my muscles in my shins were began to spasm. When we got to the motel in Lompoc, I said to Tony, I know you have been riding since San Francisco, but I can't walk. He ended up massaging me.. Surprise!

I decided I would surprise him next year, but as procrastination would have it, I did not devise a plan. I was somewhere near Camarillo when the words, "You are my Viagra" came to me. I found an Aaron brothers and made a sign. The sign in this pick is the upgraded sign I made the following year.
